Corporate Parenting and Children in Care Councils: Taking it to the next level
Diversity and Inclusion Workshop- 10th October 2015
Hearing the voices and views of all young people in care
“The day was about the Corporate Parenting panel and the children in care council coming together to look at how we can work together more effectively and meet other panels and CICCs to see what they are doing” (Mel, 23)
Evaluations/Thoughts from young people from West Sussex about the day:
Mel- “It was an interesting and informative event. I learnt about barriers for getting involved and about different diverse groups i.e. LGBT young people that we don’t currently work with.”
Alex-“I thoroughly enjoyed learning about other authorities and Corporate Parenting panel groups. I liked the brick and onion activities. It was good being heard by other peers and listening to other voices from parts of the country”.
Mel and Alex stated their actions were to feedback the day at the next Corporate Parenting Panel and Children in care council meeting.
