Youth Cabinet and Members Youth Parliament put young people views across to the West Sussex Select Committee Leads:
Members of Youth Cabinet and UK Youth Parliament meet with the Select Committee Chairman and the select committee leads for West Sussex County Council to have the opportunity to put forward their constituents views of what should be considered for inclusion in the scrutiny work programme for the next two years.
Some of the keys issues raised included:
- Emotional Health & Wellbeing
- Obesity
- Curriculum for life
- Increase work experience
- Cyber bullying
- Community segregation
- Transport costs for 16-17yrs paying adult fare when still in education
- Abuse of young people and children

“The scrutiny leads listened, and they then take these ideas into the decision on what to scrutinise”
“I did research to speak on my two topics to the scrutiny leads, my main topic was about how we help children who identify as transsexual in schools.”
“It is my understanding that members of the cabinet have considered our points reasonably and reciprocated our involvement equally.”
“We were given a full days training regarding council proceedings and all the set rules.”
“I spoke about the transport and mental health issues in my area.”
