The spring NCS cohort took part in The NESTA Project’s offsite session. The Black Light session involves showing the young people how germs are spread. With the use of UV paint and UV lights, the young people have to search for different types of germs and discover how they have been spread. The group also learnt more about the hard work that hospital staff do, from nurses to cleaners; everyone is important and contributes to the overall care and service that the hospital provides.
The session highlights that volunteering at a hospital is a great opportunity, as well as a way to give back to the community. The young people learnt more about how they can do their part when visiting the hospital and how to help make sure that germs aren’t spread to more vulnerable patients.
