For our Youth Cabinet Political Engagement Campaign we are running a set of 3 webinars, each with a different theme in relation to politics to help young people to learn and understand more about the reality of this area. Details are below for each webinar and the links to sign up to them. You can either sign up for 1, 2 or all 3 if you want to. Feel free to share them on your social media to increase attendance.
Webinar 1 – Political Understanding
Date and time: 16 February 2021 – 6.00pm to 7.15pm – Watch replay on YouTube
Politics can be daunting and a hard thing to navigate on your own. But the Youth Cabinet are here to give you the building blocks to understanding. At the centre of our Political Engagement campaign, we are hosting a webinar designed to uplift your understanding of politics. The evening will feature a presentation from two of our young people, followed by a speech and Q&A with guest speaker MP Tim Loughton who‘s been in the political game a long time – this webinar is ideal for those aged 11-18.
Webinar 2 – Political Ideologies
Date and time: 23 February 2021 – 6.00pm to 7.15pm – Watch replay on YouTube
Politics is something that very few people want to learn about – it’s constantly changing, making it seem extremely daunting at first – like they say, “one day is like one week in politics”. But the WSYC knows how to make politics so much more interesting and easier to understand – by learning about the ideologies. In just an hour, our webinar will help you to familiarise yourself with the foundations of politics, which is the key to understanding the bigger picture. We are also lucky enough to have a guest speaker who lives and breathes politics – Peter Lamb – and knows a thing or two on the topic at hand. We hope you’ll join us.
Webinar 3 – Political Discourse
Date and time: 2 March 2021 – 6.00pm to 7.15pm – Watch replay on YouTube
Ever had a lot to say, but no idea quite how to put it? We are increasingly seeing more young people interested and inclined to share their opinions and views, however they may be unaware of how to express them. We will have a presentation on the best ways of sharing and how to have a good debate. There will be special guest speaker Jacquie Russell, talking about their role in the wonderful world of politics and there will be an opportunity to ask them any questions you might have!
