One Day in History

West Sussex County Council “One Day in History Photographic Competition and Project”.

The Free Your Mind group were successful in being one of 12 winners in the recent “One Day in History Photographic Competition and Project.” The competition received over 200 fantastic submissions from a range of different services, and the winning photos were picked from a panel of judges. All pictures will be used as part of a wider project that will shine a light on what great work takes place on a daily basis at West Sussex County Council and what a great customer centred approach looks like in 2015.

A presentation evening was arranged by Young People’s Services where Annie MacIver director of Family Operations presented our group Free Your Mind with our winning picture. We attended the presentation evening at County Hall North with other organisations that support young people. The ‘One day In History award’ highlights organisations that have good customer service skills and stand out within their community.

This event, and winning the award, meant a lot to the Free Your Mind group as we all are passionate about mental health campaigning and want to provide a good service for other young people. We have done this by our recent 2016 Free Your Mind Convention.

Our motto is “Let’s talk about it!” and we think that talking about issues such as the mental health and emotional wellbeing of young people is important in order to improve and reduce the stigma surrounding these issues in West Sussex. Written by Claudia and Shannon.

“This was great because it recognised the hard work we are doing and I was really proud to be part of the group and receive the award.” Lily Parsons.
